"All the Pseudochromis were
$28.00----but now the site says $45 :(

Well, that's another good argument for buying just one. :-)
The Pseudochromis porphyreus is still only $13, but it's not tank raised.

I was thinking in terms of 1 Splendid, 1 Purple Fridmani, 1 Springeri.

Does that pose the same problem as 3 Fridmani?

The neons seem like they are too nasty to take a chance on.

From everything I've read pseudochromis will attack ANY fish that has a

shape similar to theirs whether it is another pseudochromis, royal
gramma, goby or blenny. The pseudochromis porphyreus I had dug out a
cave under some live rock and chased anything - snail, crab or
clownfish - away form the opening. It was fun to watch him spit
mouthfulls of sand outside his cave hence his name Bob the Builder. He
buried one of my large feather dusters so often the worn left its tube
nver to be seen again.

Nope don't do it. They fight each other to the death, even if they are

How 'bout blue chromis, green chromis, or red firefish? I've seen reports that
these school well.

Excellent! Is the "red firefish" the same thing as a Firefish goby
(nemateleotris magnifica)? If not, what's the scientific name?

There's the red fire fish, and the purple fire fish, and
then there's the african red fire fish (biger).

Hey George,

I have two blue-green chromis in my tank and they are buds. One has turned
out to be the more dominant but nothing has ever happened. I bought three
originally but the 3rd was weak when I bought him, and sure enough he died 4
days later. Blue green do very well in schools. Three or more is
suggested.

I was thinking of Cardinals as school fish. How about 2 Bangais and 3 Orange
Stripes for a 65 gallon?
