Default Can Plecos live with fish that need salt, like Mollys?

I just now received twelve Fancy Black Molly fry and I am wondering, can
young Plecos [2 to 3¹/² inches] handle the one tablespoon per gallon
of salt? I know that Corys can't,....Can Plecos?~Dean.

Neither are meant to, but we have 2 cory's and a hong kong plec in our
livebearer tank (1 tablespoon per gallon) and they're doing fine.

I just read at a couple of sites where they said that it was a one
tablespoon per five gallons of water for Mollys,...which is what I have
put in the tank,...I guess I will now have to purchase some more sea
salt, right? Problem is, is that I'm one of those folks who when he
goes into a LFS, I become just like a kid in a candy store, and that's
not good, because I'm on Social Security Disability, and they upped my
rent and cut my food stamps,...So maybe I'll just stand at the door of
the shop, and ask for the packet of salt,...LOL~Dean.

We have the same problem Dean... usually it's guppies, but last time we came
home with a 14" pl*co!

For brackish water the ratio is 1 tablespoon per gallon... mollies prefer
it, but don't *need* it... they'll be fine in fresh water. We have some
adult mollies in our community tank which has no salt and they're happy
enough... but without salt they're more susceptible to white spot so the
tank needs to be periodically treated.

Your mollies could probably do fine without salt, particularly if you have
hard water.

And please don't get the plecos unless you have a huge tank. These fish don't
belong in a tank less than 40 gallons (150L).

Plecos do not clean your tank. No fish will clean your tank.

I currently have nine aquariums up and running: one 55 gallon; three 30
gallon aquariums; and four 10 gallon tanks. As my Plecostomus catfish
get larger, I move them to larger and larger tanks. And when they get
too large for the 55 gallon tank, I trade or sell them to get more and
younger fish. And as far as tank cleaning, all plecos and fish with
their type of eating habits do, is eat some algae off the tank's
glass,...I'm the one who does all of the major clean-up of the tanks,
toting the dirty water over to the sink, or when asked to do so, outside
to pour it on to the many plants of my different neighbour's
gardens,...And I'm the one who takes the treated water from the bathtub,
over to each tank by hand in buckets that hold only three gallons of
water each,...No easy trick when you're 58 years old and are not only
suffering from the follies of one's ill-spent youth, but also a
debilitating illness known as C.O.P.D. [Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary
Disease]. But my doc says it most likely helps to keeps me healthy, but
I swear it's makin' my arms longerLOL~Dean.

And it keeps you active and busy! :-) You'd be bored without your many
tanks and pets.
