Thanks for your answers - I will invest in some frozen brine shrimp
next time I go to the fish shop...

The 4 angels i've got are in a 3 foot tank - I planned on taking the 2
back after they have paired up,...I"ve had them since november..and
they have definatly grown!!

Mariachi....

Give them time too.
Last year I got a bunch of quarter sized Pearlscale Angels. I've had
them all for many months without any pairing off.
Well....I thought I had a possible pair but the female died suddenly,
so nothing ever came of it.
I recently added a new gold/goldmarble pearlscale cross to the mix and
since doing so, there has been a flurry of action.
Sometimes it just takes something you'd never think of to get things
moving.
Just last night I saw my Gold pearlscale and a Silver pearlscale that
were bought together last year....only last night they decided to pair
off and start cleaning the intake tube to the canister filter.
2 hours later they were spawning.
These 2 fish had never shown any liking for one another in close to a
year, and then all of a sudden they pair off and spawn the same day.
I am healing from foot surgery and cannot walk on one foot at all, so
I couldn't switch around tanks to put the pair in before they spawned.
I knew during the night the Bushynosed Pleco would get the eggs, and
he did. However, I wasn't prepared for them to do this so I accepted
the loss of their first batch. They should be good to go again in 2
weeks, so I have plenty of time to get my 6 yr old male Betta out of
the tank I plan on using for this pair. I also have to get the gravel
out and switch to a spong filter instead of the HOB filter.
The old Betta isn't going to appreciate getting moved to a 2 1/2g
tank, but he can sulk and give me the pout all he wants, hehe.
Oh...I have pics of the pair spawning too. If you would like me to
email a few to you, email me asking for them.
Pay no attention to the body shape of the male though, as he has more
a female's body.
He's a perfect example of why it's not always trustworthy to try and
sex angels via body shape.
Just remember to ask me via email though.
