I have a hair algae that nothing will eat all over my tank (even on snails). Sally lightfoot, emerald crab, blue legs, scarlets, astrea, red legs, yellow tang and sailfin blennie won't touch this crap. I have to scrub with tooth brush to remove but it will grow back. I use phosphate remover but not all the time. I change 4 (5-6) gal buckets of water a month. Have wetdry using sock. Have Berlin skimmer too. 75 g tank up and running since nov. 07. My live rock is old but was clean when I just started this back up after a house remodel. rock was in barrel for 8 months. I was thinking about placing LR in a grey trashcan with the cover on it for a good month with a pump to recirculate the water to kill it. ANY IDEAS?? Tanks. Best idea is to be patient. I had some nasty algae issues myself, and still see some of it growing on the snail and whatnot...but as the tank has been up and running a little longer, it's become less and less of an issue. I think I hit around 8 or 9 months when I really noticed the drop off in terms of algae production. -- Big Habeeb (a.k.a. Mitch) I love woot.com and techbargains.com |
