Unless you have a lot of time to spare, I seriously think that the pressurized bottle is the way to go for a 120 gal tank. And you probably need a very effective reactor as well. Cheers Kenneth "Matt" ¦b¶l¥ó ¤¤¼¶¼g... Hey, all, Just wanted to see if anyone else out there has had this problem and might be able to help. I have a 120 gallon tank with DIY CO2 injected into the filter pickup. Problem is, my CO2 production is extremely low... Like 1 bubble per 3 minutes. The first batch I ran on this tank kicked butt to the tune of a bubble every 2 seconds for two weeks, but to date all successive batches have been duds. I tried adding baking soda, but it didn't help at all. In fact, that batch was probably the worst to date. I cant seem to get this stuff going well. I use a 1 gallon gatorade jug with 3.5 cups of sugar and half a tbs of Fleishmann's active dry yeast. Can anyone figure out what's causing this problem? Thanks in advance! I just don't have extra cash to blow on that kind of hardware. I'd like to,
but it's just not in the cards. Matt |

Really, DIY CO2 is just not workable on a 120 gal tank if you expect magic plant growth. Of course, any additional CO2 is usable on any size tank, provided that you have realistic expectations. Without CO2 I would not use PMDD, and I Matt |

Why is it not workable? What is the limiting factor? Is it the bubbles per
minute? I don't expect anything magical, just a little boost to the growth rate. Maybe it would offset the plant eating tinfoil barb *******s' damage. I swear, as cool as they look, if they don't cut out the plant munching, I'm going to trade them in!! :/ Matt |

IMO, in a plant tank, they have no business being there... they're an ornamental fish, they look nice, serve no other purpose other than to eat your plants... IIRC, DIY Co2 production is very much maxed out at around 40g-55g mark, theres a threshold of where saturation levels can't be acheived in such a large tank for you to even notice it's there. Pressurized CO2, literally, INJECTS the water with high amounts, that are unobtainable with DIY CO2.. that's why the virtual rule, 5-55g DIY can give you 15-25ppm, any bigger, then forget it... 55g + Pressurized... -- RedForeman ©® future fabricator and creator of a ratbike streetfighter!!! ========================== 2003 TRX450ES 1992 TRX-350 XX (For Sale) '98 Tacoma Ext Cab 4X4 Lifted.... ========================== ø¤°`°¤ø,¸¸¸,ø¤°`°¤ø,¸¸¸,ø¤°`°¤ø,¸¸,ø¤°`°¤ø,¸¸¸,ø¤° `°¤ø,¸¸,ø¤°`°¤ø is that better?? |
