Boiled water

Is boiled (not distilled) water OK to put in a tank?

I was told that if I raised the temperature by using normal tap water,
boiled water & declor that it would be safe to put in my tank. Is this
true?

(Fish update - just put some live daphnia in the tank for my ill fish.
Suddenly she's zooming about like a greedy gullet sucking up that
squiggling protein!)

Yeah, it's fine. Just remember that hot water is O2-depleted, so you
need aeration.

To add to what Gunther said, you can get rid of the dechlor, for as soon as
you start boiling the water the chlorine goes away quickly.

Yeah, it's fine. Just remember that hot water is O2-depleted, so you
need aeration.

why bother with boiling water? just add dechlor and then run the right combination
of hot and cold into the tank. distilled water is fine, as is softened water as long
as a buffer system is put back into the tank.. like RO Right or something. I use
organic dolomitic lime cause my lake water is pretty soft. Ingrid

Our hot water is supplied from a tank. I have never trusted tank water
since I found feathers coming out of a tap at school. Later
investigations found (several) dead pigeons. I think it unlikely my own
cold water tank has such a problem, but I figure it's not worth the risk.
