Default Feeding Cichlids

I have about 15 Cichlids in 1200 gallon pond. They've been in there for
about three weeks now. I'm surprised how skittish these guys are. For the
first week and a half they would refuse food if I was near. They are just
starting to pick pellets off the surface, but really only some of them.

How much should they be fed?
Are some foods beter than others, wha should I look for?
