Default need to harden water because of snail...calcium carbonate?

Hi! My snail is losing it's shell and I think it's because of my water
hardness. My KH hovers around 9-10 and my PH is 7-7.2. Since most plants do
prefer harder water, so would calcium carbonate be a good additive for the
water?

THanX!

Dave.

Sorry, I should put that my GH is 140ppm which is bordering on soft water.
This measurement of calcium & mag. ions is more relevant

Doesn't Greg Watson sell calcium carbonate??? I need some too, wanna split
some? He sells it in bulk, more than I'd need in a year or two....

Hmmm, don't know a Greg Watson. But I'm pretty sure I need some of the
stuff. I have no idea how much to add or what the basic recipe is...I guess
I'd have to continuesly monitor the GH.
