grass on rocks

I had a lovely Yellow Tang in the past, which wouldn't touch the stuff.

And yes your right it's tough.

My father in law also suffers with the same 'grass' problem. In actual
fact, I think that I managed to transfer it from his tank into mine, when he
gave me some stock. He has had many a Tang in his tank, and none of them
would touch it either.

The stuff is that tough I think they just give up

If it's what I think it is, it's tough and has a wire like texture. It
will spread over everything if it's not controlled. I holds on to the rock
with a death grip too, making it extremely hard to pull off. It's very
common on reefs in the wild, but because tangs love it so much, you rarely
see very large patches of it. Most of the time, a yellow tang will eat it
til he pops.

I have a Yellow Tang who refused to eat it- until Hurricane Frances.
As the power was out and they were running on a generator with no lighting,
I skipped feeding the reef tank for three days to keep my water quality up.
Evidently he got so hungry that hair algae started looking pretty good and
even though I have resumed feeding he is still eating it right down to the
nubs.

Now if I could just interest him in some Green Star Polyps...
