Default fluval internal filter along w/ undergravel...

Hey all, I"m building a small(10usg) marine aquarium for my kids(they want a
clownfish, thank you nemo!) so along w/ the LR and LS, would a fluval
internal filter work for marine apps? the undergravel filter I have is just
to add a little more bio-filtering.

I would highly recommend NOT using the undergravel filter. One, it's
unlikely to support the live rock, and the sand will just sift
underneath it. Even when that is not happening, crud builds up under
there and can cause water quality issues. The fluval internal may be
fine, provided you maintain it very well. A tank that small is going
to be a lot of work, IME, but if you're just doing fish, and no
inverts or corals, it's quite do-able. If you have enough live rock
in there, you may just want to replace your filter with a powerhead
or two for circulation and let the rock do its job. About 20 lbs
should be sufficient for that tank. Be sure you follow all LR curing
procedures before buying a nemo.

cheers

billy
