tiny snails

In the last month, I've had one tiny snail multiply into nearly a
forest of them. Some are floating on the water surface, some are on
the walls, and a gazillion of them are on every surface in the
aquarium. What do I do about them? Will they hurt my Cory's and
Danios?

Nope, get yourself a Botia, maybe a B. lohachata, or YoYo loach. It will
eat your snails with great delight.

Just crush them with your finger against the glass. You'll create food, and
keep the herds thinned out.

If they don't get eaten, hello ammonia spike. Plus, being
hermaphrodites, even ONE missed snail could take you back to 2000 if
food is in sufficient supply.

You are being silly if you think a few tiny dead snails will mess up your
tank. As to missing them... the idea is to keep on crushing a few you can
reach, the intention isn't to irradicate them completely. It keeps a nice
little balance this way for years.

Don't use your finger, you might cut it. That can lead to nasty infections.
There was a woman some time back who talked about cutting her finger than
way.

Use a wooden spoon, safer.

I agree!
Malaysian Trumpet snails have quite a hard shell, and it will cut your finger
easily.
Common pond snails are easier to crush with a finger against the glass.
I have wondered though, with MT snails....being that their shels are so hard, I
would think that would hurt the insides of a loach. Do they either expell the
empty shells (vomit) or are they passed right on through.

Add a couple of clown loaches to your tank. Eliminates the problem
quickly and reliably.

By the way, if you crush the snails between your fingers, many other
fishes like to eat their remains.
