Default Um.. my partner threw out all the plants...

It's winter time over here in New Zealand. And as such, I believe it's
normal for the plants to die back. Unfortunately, my partner did not
read it that way, and threw (our quite expensive) set of plants out.
The whole lot

Temps have been dropping below zero some nights, but no chance of the
pond freezing - we have 4 goldfish that are growing ok, and showing no
signs of missing the plants.

Should I rush out and get more plants, or will it be ok until
spring/summer?

(I would prefer to wait until then when the plants naturally take off
again - as I have a mate that is quite happy to provide a variety of new
plants from his pond for free.)

Cheers for any advice.

Oy! Maybe you can find another pond owner
to "share" some of their excess in the spring.
My husband has been known to weed whack
flowers that he thought were weeds. It's not
an uncommon phenomenon.

I like having plants over winter since I don't
feed the goldfish. They can graze on plants.

Can he spare some now?

Cheers for any advice.

Exchange rate's getting better for you (our $ is dropping). Make sure
you make it back to the "mainland" (south island) I'm in
Christchurch BTW (lovely cloudless day today, no wind, warm so long as
yer standing in the sun - bit on the cool side otherwise

I would have to count the South Island as my
favorite. I was fortunate to have a month stay
each of the two times I visited, so over the two
visits I traveled as far north as Cape Reinga,
and as far south as Stewart Island. There are a
few places I didn't get to and would like to visit,
and of course lots of places to re-visit.

Take care - Gail

depends on how much plants you can get for the dollar. end of season here and plants
are heavily discounted. Ingrid
