The Vancouver Canucks have the orca as their main logo.
Unfortunately they recently lost their series against the Vegas Golden Knights. I think they would have better luck if they donated more (or some?) money in support of the Southern Resident orca pods, maybe including some to me for research into cetacean communication :-) though that would require me to do some work (not that my four components magickal stuff isn’t work of sorts). By the way, I heard on the radio that J35 has had a new calf. (J35 is the orca mother who carried the dead body of her last calf for a long period after its death a while ago.) I do have some scientific expertise including in acoustics and signal processing, and the Orca Hot Foot experience I describe on http://www.nfld.com/~dalton/orca.html is an extra motivation for me to help orcas, since while it was partly a recognition of me, it was partly a call for help from at least one captive orca, and I haven’t really lived up to that call yet (I didn’t even email Canadian Senators before their vote to ban future cetacean captivity in Canada a while ago). However since I have no background yet in cetacean research, it will probably be hard for me to get a postdoctoral fellowship in the subject, though of course I could collaborate with others (possibly including a musician friend of mine who is currently completing a Ph.D. in Linguistics at The University of Toronto, though I haven’t yet approached her about it). -- David Dalton http://www.nfld.com/~dalton (home page) http://www.nfld.com/~dalton/dtales.html Salmon on the Thorns (mystic page) "Rain upon the water/Makes footprints sunk in sand./Anger upon angry hurt,/Take me by the hand./Take me by the heartstrings..."
