Default Smelly Water?

when doing a water change I took a sniff of the water. Found nothing
offensive and it seemed quite neutral. I assume that is a good sign.

Am guessing if I do smell something a bit nasty that more checking
should be done. Just curious if water sniffing should be used
as a routine check for water conditions....

if it smells fishy and earthy then it is fine but if it smells like sewage
then it is not good. but you should still check your water paremeters
regularly (nitrate, nitrite, ph, ammonia)

in behavior. Ingrid
