Default goldfish

I have a large fancy goldfish (oranda). I have had him for a couple of years
with two other fancy goldfish in 40 gallon tank. He appears perfectly
healthy very energetic and feds well. However over the last few weeks a
growth has developed on his fin. It is in the form of a couple of white
balls about 10mm (half an inch in diameter) connected by a small amount of
white growth.

It has not spread to the other two fish, yet.

Does anybody have any idea what this can be. I do have a couple of photos I
could post to this site if that would help. Was not sure what the policy is
on this on this message board.

Any help appreciated.

Stu

Pictures should properly go to alt.binaries.aquaria. Not all servers
carry that group, tho.

Indeed - and my ISP strips binaries from non-binary groups. The best way
is to sign up for a free geocities (for example) site, transfer the
pictures there and post a link.

are they solid or soft? if soft, move to a bowl of the tank water, squeeze or lance
them, treat topically with antibiotics and return fish to tank.
what are your water quality parameters, ammonia, nitrites, nitrates and pH?
add 1 teaspoon salt per 5 gallons, no additives, dissolve first, add slowly.
