Reef Safe Predator of Flat Worms? by
Groovok
I recently have had a outbreak of flatworms in my 90 gallon reef. My LFS was
out of Six Line Wrasse's, which I've read Love to eat these little pests..
So I picked up a Spotted Green Mandarin after reading online that they love
flatworms. The mandarin is doing a alright job I guess...His belly...

Clown and anenome relationship by
Stoutman
Is the clown/anemone relationship a learned one or is it genetic? In other
words will a clown take to an anemone if he has never seen/witnessed another
clown fish in an anemone?
I am asking because I have a tank raised percula clown who is not taking to
my sebae or condy anemone.
thanks.

Sarcopython Propagation Help by
TheRock
It's time for me to propagate my Sarcopython. It's huge.
All sites I have visited to propagate say to cut off the cap, cut it into
sections
and glue it to plugs or small pieces of rock.
Because it's about 10" high I was wondering if I can cut it closer to the
base.
Does it need to be cut close...

Planning Ahead:Tank Stocking Suggestions by
StringerBell
OK
I took the plunge. Ive got 100 lbs of Rock on the way for my 65 gallon.
As some of you might have experienced, the internet can sometimes be an
imformation overload.
I`m Planning FOWLR . I`m not sure I`ll ever want to upgrade to a reef tank,
but I DO know that I dont want to have to move fish...

nudge me in right direction by
StringerBell
hi,
First of all---thanks for all the response Ive received on the NG. You have
been VERY helpfull and patient.
But I am SO frustrated.
Here is my situation:
Back in the 80`s, my wife and I enjoyed a great 45 gallon marine tank. It
ran on a cannister filter, and an undergravel filter with...

Sick clown? by
Brandonb
Hello,
I came home from work on my lunch break yesterday and thought that I was
missing a clown fish. After putting a bit of dry seaweed in, he came out
from hiding in a far corner under some pieces of live rock. For my
clowns, this is VERY unusual behavior. They usually don't even go down
to...

Oceanic and Instand Ocean compatibility by
Pszemol
In a reef tank I use Instant Ocean salt.
Can I simply use different salt, like Oceanic,
for a water change or something bad will happen?
Can I generally mix and match salt brands in
a single reef tank or this is not recomended ?

Power-Outage Contingency by
StringerBell
OK---
been getting LOTS of great advice.
Is there a power-outage contingency? What if you go away for a week and the
circuit breakers go? I guess the Live-Rock continues to do some work for a
while---but are there battery systems out there that kick-in in case of
power outage?

Feeding tree coral by
Mark Cooper
Reading Borneman on the capnella/tree coral and he says they rely more on
dissolved nutrients than xooanthellae. By dissolved nutrients, does this
mean organics dissoved in the water column, or extremely fine food
particles like zooplankton or prepared meaty foods?
Thanks,
Mark

New reef aquarium fan by
hannah
hej, we live in northern europe, and have experimented with reef
aquariums. Our live rocks (filled with algae, anemones, seaplants and
tiny brushworms) are growing great.. and we just found a little, white
hairy crab inside, which is getting ready to leave his crevices
(probably getting too small...

Min. Yellow Tang Tank-Space by
StringerBell
"Natural Reef Aquariums" by John Tullock is the book Ive been using to
research starting a reef tank. The guy seems to have all the bases covered.
In his 50 gallon,36" set-up he includes a Yellow Tang in his habitat. Most
of the tank requirements I see on the internet suggest a minimum of 70-100...

Plenum? by
StringerBell
Plenum: from what I read It sounds like its just a raised platform so that
there is water below the sand level.
Would a capped,un-connected undergravel filter be suitable to use as a
Plenum?
I havent set my tank up yet so I still have time to do this.
Is using a Plenum better than not using one?...

I had to help out a friend get some livestock, etc out of his tank. I know
three of the fish but these two I'm not sure of. I'd appreciate the help.
I know I've seen these before while surfing but now that I need to know,
alas I cannot find them. (Yeah I was a bit amiss that he didn't know...

Reliable Online Rock Suppliers? by
StringerBell
I am leaning towards TONGA live-rock. Im cycling my tank with it. The Drs.
Foster and Smith site have it for about 3/5 the price of everyone else.
Are they cool? Alternate suggestions always appreciated.

Another feeding question - Purple Firefish by
exotec
I've had a group of three Purple Firefish for quite a while now, at
least a year. Recently, one started losing weight and finally expired.
Now, I notice one of the others is looking a little light, and I'm
worrying. The other fish in the tank are eating and keeping their
weight on. I feed everybody...

Good PC brands? by
Mark Cooper
I am looking at various brands of PC bulbs online, and am wondering about
some of the brands I am finding.
Has anyone had any experience with the "True Aqua" or "Jalli" brand?
Sometimes it's the same bulb under a different name, and sometimes it's
not:)
Thanks,
Mark

Downgrading to FO tank by

Hi guys,
I've had a 30 gallon reef tank for the last couple of years and I've decided
that it's too much trouble (for many different reasons).
Currently, I have some live rock with some riccordea, some green polyps, two
leather corals and some miscellaneous mushroom anenomies. I have PC...
