As to fish, which fish would you recommend I put in the kiddy-pond: my zebra danios, platies or goldfish? The goldfish are pretty big, and I'm worried they'll become cat or racoon snacks. Deliberately cross-posted to rec.ponds. Zebra danios are hard to see from above, especially against a black background. Brightly colored platies are nice, as are mollies. Another fish that stays small and does well in ponds are rosy red minnows. I also keep gold white clouds in my whiskey barrels. I've lost larger goldfish and 4" koi to raccoons so I can't recommend them without fencing, netting, or some way to keep the 'coons out. -- Put the word aquaria in the subject to reply.
