Best Way To clean Aquarium Decorations

I would place them in boiling water and brush them off under running water.
Many would suggest using vinegar and a brush...just shy away from
detergents.

What is the best way to clean aquarium decorations, such as resin
rocks, caves, etc.? I have brown algae beginning to accumulate on some
pieces and would like to clean them up. Should I use bleach water and
