Default Placing Seaweed in a tank

Can I use a lead fishing weight to hold the clip down in the water and use
attach a fishing line to the clip to remove the clip? Will the lead weight
cause and damage to my eco system?

No, lead is toxic.

No, but you should be able to find weights coated with epoxy that will be safe.
