Star fish ate my anenome

I caught my chocolate chip star on my anemone (sebae) chomping on him. The
anemone died and I let him finish the job.

Ever heard of this? I think the next time I get a anemone I am returning
the star fish.

Chocolate chip starfish are not considered a reef safe animal.

Yep, they eat your corals too.

There is one pet store near by that keeps chocolate chip
star fish in with their cony anemones. They then tell the
customers that they can buy and put chocolate chip
starfish in with their anemones and corals, see they do :-)

The customer then buys the star and it eats their corals
and anemones, and they then go back to the same store, and
spend more money on corals.

Outrageous. Someone should complain to the better business bureau.

The BBB is a joke. They see themselves as an advertising
agency, and when a person complains to them about one of
their paying members, they don't take action against them
because they don't want to lose those membership fees.
Instead they just play mail carrier with the complaint.

The BBB will do nothing unless the complainer 1) has been injured and 2) will
settle for something "reasonable."

I think it unlikely that the BBB will handle a case in which the only acceptable
settlement is to make them stop keeping starfish in the same tank as anemones. I
could be wrong.

IMO, the most effective cure is publicity, such as that which Wayne is
providing. It may not be very effective, but it's the best we have.

Yes, I got a Chocolate Chip star and bubble-tip anemone from a guy that
had them together (both free, so bonus). It ate the tentacles off the
anemone. It has taken a long time, but the bubble-tip is finally
starting to grow its tentacles back, even though it shrank in size and
looked in a very bad way for a while. Oddly, the place it chose to sit
and stay was hiding under my HOB filter on the glass toward the top and
out of the light. The star is in a separate tank altogether with no
corals or anything that it can damage/eat.

Doh! I just joined to see if I can get advice on why my anemonies are
being eaten or otherwise disappearing. When I started work, It seemed
that the starfish were looking a my bubble anemone. I read this thread
and ran upstairs and there's not much left of it.

So, first Thanks!

Can i get some advice? I have 3 star fish.

* First is a sort of serpent starfish which I don't really like, but it
came with the tank.

* Second, is a Chocolate chip which needs a new home. Apparently, not
safe.

* Third, is a starfish similar to the Chocolate chip, but it a dark
green color. I assume it's not safe.

Yep, none of those are safe for a reef tank. The serpent
will not hurt your corals, but it does like to eat your fish.
