feather

If you've built you pond where the depth is below the frost line, you can just
cut off any remaining leaves at the end of the season and place the pot
containing the lilly in the bottom of the pond. Just don't let it freeze. You
may be able to take the iris and place it in the house in a cool, dark place
(like a basement) to keep the bulb from re-sprouting. Next spring just set up
those plants like you had them this year. I am not sure about the others since
I don't have those.

I live in Ellicott City, near Baltimore. For the winter, I sink my lotus,
lily, cattails, pickeral rush, etc. to the bottom of the pond and let them
overwinter there. I have tried to sink WH, but I did not have any succeed
last year. They are fairly cheap as are lettuce, and we have enough Southern
Porgs here, that I can usually get all the WH I need by the time I need it.
My pond is about 40-42 inches deep.

Ooops...Forgot the iris. I left mine in the VF. They froze solid. This
spring they were the first plant to return, and have grown like crazy.
