Software to help bring water composition to the desired level. by
Bob K.
Ok, I'll cut to the chase. I'm a programmer.
I enjoyed getting away from my job as a programmer
and work with my fish for relaxation.
my 2cents? You'll be better off working it out without
the anal intensity of thinking a computer program will
make it easy. It won't, you can.

PC ballast/socket & pin configurations by
Kristen
I've been shopping for a ballast for a retro PC install. I found a
couple good deals on Fulman Workhorse ballasts. In specific I'm
looking at the Workhorse 5 Long 120V/128W
(http://www.fulham.com/wh5.html).
One aquarium lighting site that lists this ballast specifies whether
each ballast is for...

Can 3' Feet Tank support this? by
Tasslehoff
As much as you can fit into the tank without throwing it in and preferrably
not V shaped, probably safer to have flat bottomed rocks for the mass to be
evernly distributed on the tank bottom. I think you missed a newsgroup in
your post.

DIY Heating for Sump system by
The Madd Hatter
The reason that i think the space heater will be a major contributor is that
the enclosure will be very small (10' x 7' x 6'H)... Temperatures in my
garage regularly drop below zero in the winter (or should I say,
occasionally rise above 0!).. I'm hoping that a space heater w/ a fan,
designed to...

optimizing carboplus system by
teizman
hi,
since two weeks now, I've been using a carboplus in my 100 gallon tank.
Unlike some others, I very happy with it, and my plants even more!
Problem is, my tank is fairly big (100gallon).
I've been thinking about tweaking/optimizing this little piece of equipment:
----are the bubles that are...

AH Supply Kit Trouble Shooting? by
Brian Sensale
Hey,
I've wired the kit according to the instructions that came with it, but
when I plug in the bulb and the fixture, it doesn't come on. I removed
the wingnuts from the red-red-brown and blue-yellow connection, and
applying a voltmeter, I see power at this point. What can I do to
troubleshoot...

LFS Owners please read this by
Mike Petro
I have been keeping fish for 30 years now. During this entire time my
LFS (local fish store) has always accepted trade-ins of fish that were
either incompatible, too large, etc as long as they were healthy
specimens. This has been assumed and expected because how else do you
humanely deal with...

Fish feeding question ... by
Joe V.
Got a problem that could just be due to my stupidity ...
Whenever I feed my fish with food that basically floats or stays close to
the top, some of the food eventually gets sucked into my hang-on filter
intake before the fish have a chance to grab it.
I was thinking of putting a net or something...

CF bulb failure mode? by
Jeff Dantzler
I have a 96 watt CustomSeaLife Smartlight that stopped working. The lamp
will not light at all. The bulb has been in service for 3+ years. Is this
a typical bulb failure given the amount of use the bulb has seen?
Unfortunately I was not around when it failed. Before I spend $50 on
another bulb it...

Aquarium seals, how long? by

How long are seals "reliable" for? I have some pretty old tanks and have been
thinking about resealing. The joints all look very good but the inner seals are
looking pretty sad.

titanium cooling coil by

I have a new 125 gallon tank that I'm just getting set up and it's
running a little hotter than I'd like - 81F
I'd like the temp to be about 77F, so I only need to cool down 4
degrees.
I have a clip-on fan blowing on the sump, and two 3" Radio Shack fans
blowing on the lights.
I thought about...

Painted gravel paint chips? by

I'm a newbie setting up a 55 gal. So far, I've been practicing on a
small two gallon, I figure it is easier to learn by starting out small.
I'm about ready to start thinking about the large tank now.
One problem I have on the small tank and haven't been able to solve well
is the painted gravel...

DIY Coil Denitrator Questions by

I have been looking at different DIY plan for Coil Denitrators and I was
wondering if anyone has had any luck building one of these things. I am
really curious what kind of pump and flow rate did you use. Can anyone make
any recomendations or give me specific directions on how to build one?...
